Sports for Peace

Peace One Day with model Tess Njuhi, UNEP, and Keino Sports Marketing are rolling out a program to have football tournaments at the displaced camps in Eldoret, Nakuru and Naivasha and Nairobi from 19th - 22nd May. There will be a one day event in each location, incorporating football matches, art for kids and rubbish clean ups. Children will be able to write their special peace messages on the footballs. The best of their artwork will be exhibited at Wasanii restaurant in Nairobi.

International Models

Ajuma

Kenyan top model born in Turkana, Ajuma was crowned Miss Nairobi in 2003 at the Miss Tourism Kenya competition. Ajuma has been an angel for Victoria's secret and has worked the runways at Paris, London and Milan fashion week.

Tess Njuhi

Kenyan top model who was Mnet's face of Africa in 1999 is flying in from New York where she currenty lives. Tess also works closely with Peace One Day and will be with them in Kenya to document the FAFA event.

Waridi Schrobsdorff

Waridi Schrobsdorff left Kenya at 20 years old, modelling in London and New York with top designers and brands. Since 1999 she has been working with Esmod international School initiating projects to promote young fashion designers in Berlin.

In 2006 Waridi founded her own non-profit organisation with the same idea of using fashion to raise awareness on topics of HIV-aids while providing a platform for young designers. For more information on Waridi, please visit www.i-magine.org

Amrit Kalsi

Amrit Kalsi was the former Miss India Kenya 2006/07.

Top international models Ajuma, Belinda Baidoo, Kine Diouf, Tess Njuhi and Waridi Schrobsdorff will be gracing the catwalk and will lend their support for peace in Kenya.

International Designers

Alphadi

Known as the 'Magician of the Desert', Alphadi was born into the Malian royal family. His designs derive from centuries of traditional African handicrafts from tribes such as Songhay, Zarma, Bororo, Hausa and the innovative Tuareq people, fused with European styles to create a unique look.

Alphadi is also the founder of FIMA - the International Festival of African Fashion.

Espace Fagueye

Inspired by designs from her native Senegal and further afield, Fagueye was awarded Best Designer in West Africa for the ECOFEST Festival in Nigeria in 2002.
