KooRoo

The design team of Hebret Lakew and Enid Lanez founded clothing label Kooroo in June 2006 in Kenya.

The collections of Kooroo use mainly traditional African fabrics and reinterpret them into very contemporary, high quality crafted and tailored garments for women.

Kooroo has two collections a year and aims at providing their clients with something new and exciting each season. At first the designers worked from home and had a small but steady clientele that ranged from locals to expatriates. Soon, however, the demand for the clothing encouraged them to open a retail outlet with their own label as well as supplying to other retail outlets that carry selected items.

Kooroo has been featured in local newspapers and magazines such as the Daily Nation, Business Daily and True Love Magazine. Kooroo has also participated in fashion shows at Unep headquarters which featured several other Kenyan designers as well as other venues.
